A Team Approach to the Prevention, Diagnosis, & Treatment of Peri-implant Diseases
Yorba Linda, CA •Friday, May 8, 2015 • 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Since implants were introduced to dentistry nearly 30 years ago, we have
at times been under the impression that they are somehow “resistant” to
inflammatory disease. We now know this is not the case – implants
require careful monitoring and maintenance and that soft-tissue as well
as bone changes can occur in response to inflammation. This presentation
will explore the prevalence of peri-implant diseases, their diagnosis,
and prevention.
What does the dentist and hygienist need to know
regarding the management of implants, and how do we incorporate clinical
and radiographic findings into our maintenance protocols? In addition
to answering these questions, we will explore risk factors, treatment
options, and how regeneration can help minimize the consequences of bone
loss. We will explore the failed implant and how the dental team can
come together to resolve the most devastating of consequences for the
patient and staff.
