Air Polishing for Implant Maintenance

Among the methods for achieving biofilm removal around dental implants is air polishing, which can be used to attain significant improvement in the clinical parameters of marginal bleeding, bleeding on probing, suppuration, and probing depth.  This article discusses the characteristics and applications of homogenous stream technology air-polishing devices that can be used routinely for implant maintenance, biofilm removal around implants, and cleaning around implant abutments, attachments, and superstructures without concern about damaging the implant or transmucosal element surfaces.
